When people think of actress Rebel Wilson, there are a few different things that come to mind. Chief among these is her confidence and sense of humor, both of which have been major factors in her success over the past few years. This is especially true when it comes to the likes of Pitch Perfect, one of the first prominent roles she had in the United States.
Since then, Rebel Wilson has gone on to have a few significant roles that have gone on to make her a global superstar. One of the most recent of these has been in Isn’t It Romantic, where she took the lead role in the romantic comedy. Furthermore, she’s recently been named as one of the lead cast members in an upcoming live-action adaption of the Broadway play Cats.
However, what many people may not know about Rebel Wilson is that she hasn’t always been the confident, funny person that fans around the world have come to know and love. In stark contrast to this, when she was growing up Wilson was quite an introverted person; she’s also noted that this shyness was similar to a social disorder.
Because of this, Wilson didn’t have many friends outside of her family for much of her younger years. However, her mother realized that something needed to be done to help boost Rebel Wilson’s confidence levels and to help encourage her to make more friends. After weighing a few different options, she chose acting classes and surprised Wilson when she brought her to her first class.
While these classes began affecting, Rebel Wilson’s confidence levels still needed some work. Also noteworthy at this time was the fact that Wilson had discovered that personality traits could become extremely difficult to get rid of after the age of 15.
Because of that, she began looking for other ways to help her boost her confidence alongside her acting classes. One of the more prominent ways this was done was through debate clubs, through which she not only made more friends but gained more experience performing in front of an audience. This also helped with her acting classes and her subsequent career. Rebel Wilson also noted that her family had quite a distinct and deadpan sense of humor.
