Founder of Fortress Investment Group and chairman of Brightline, Wes Edens, announced in recent news a partnership with Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. Brightline which launched in 2018 is the only passenger rail service in the United States that currently is privately owned. It is popular with its efficient and hospitality is driven by customer-friendly amenities during transportation. Wes Edens plans for Brightline which started offering service in Florida, between West Palm Beach, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale in May 2018 to expand into Tampa and Orlando. Besides Virgin Group being a respectable and recognizable brand, it is among the top international investment groups. Founded in 1970, it has invested in many sectors including transportation and travel services, mobile technologies, entertainment and leisure, related financial services, wellness, and health. What Virgin Group offers Brightline, is extensive expertise in marketing, brand development and a minority investment in the company. After the partnership agreement, Brightline will have to rename itself taking the Virgin Group’s brand name “Virgin Trains USA.” However, it will retain its operation and management through their affiliates at Fortress Investment Group and an executive team.

Edens also believes, through innovation, shared culture and disruption, the partnership will significantly position for success. Founder of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, agreed with Wes Edens stating “over the years, they have improved on innovative ways to offer better traveling services using Virgin America.” The impact will, however, be great after partnering with Brightline since many Americans reaching tens of millions, travel by train every day becoming beneficial.
Besides Virgin Group having over 60 companies looking into consumer sectors like leisure and travels, president of Brightline, Patrick Goddard agrees on their success rate. “We are reinventing train travel in America… and challenging conventional wisdom” Goddard explained. He added that a proven success track record by Virgin Group would amplify their growth potential and efforts into new markets.
